PURPOSE: A radiation image taking apparatus, a radiation image taking system, and a radiation image taking method are provided to specify the direction of taking an image of an object with respect to an X-ray image taking apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A radiation image taking apparatus comprises a radiation image acquisition unit for converting a radiation image transmitted through an object(108) into an electronic image, and outputting the electronic image; an image taking direction specifying unit for specifying the direction of taking an image of the object; a display unit for displaying the direction of taking an image of the object on at least one plane of the radiation image acquisition unit; a coordinate conversion unit for performing a coordinate conversion of the electronic image; and a control unit for controlling the image taking direction display operation of the display unit and the coordinate conversion operation of the coordinate conversion unit based on the image taking direction specified by the image taking direction specifying unit.
