PURPOSE: A shadow mask is provided to reduce costs and improve impact resistances by optimizing the radius of curvature and thickness of the shadow mask. CONSTITUTION: A cathode ray tube comprises an electron gun for emitting electron beams; a deflection yoke for deflecting the electron beams; and a shadow mask(4) having a plurality of electron beam passing holes(4a). The electron beams passed through the electron beam passing holes strike red, green, and blue phosphors arranged at a phosphor screen formed at an inner surface of a panel, to thereby emit light and reproduce images on a screen. The formula 9,000<Rx{D/(Dxt)}<10,000 is satisfied, wherein R is the radius of curvature in the diagonal axis of the shadow mask, D is the effective diagonal length of the shadow mask, and t is the thickness of the shadow mask.
