PURPOSE: A device and a method for generating location information using an analog encoder of a printer or an MFP(MultiFunction Peripheral) are provided to generate the location information from a logical signal and a digital signal generated by converting one of channel signals output from the analog encoder into the logical signal and converting other channel signal into the digital. CONSTITUTION: A logical signal generator(120) generates the first or second channel logical signal corresponding to each digital logical signal from the first or second channel analog signal generated from the analog encoder(100). An ADC(Analog Digital Converter)(140) converts the first or second analog signal into the first or second channel digital signal. A location information processor(160) generates the location information from the first channel logical signal and the second channel digital signal, or the second channel logical signal and the first channel digital signal.
