PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a character of a mobile terminal using an SMS is provided to allow a user to send various characters at a low SMS rate by including only previously defined codes for characters in text. CONSTITUTION: An origination terminal is connected to a character server storing a plurality of character images through a wireless Internet network and downloads a selected character(S100,S110). The origination terminal sends the downloaded character and a text message to a destination terminal by using an SMS(S120). Information on the destination terminal as received from the origination terminal is requested from an HLR in order to determine whether the character can be transmitted to the destination terminal(S130,S140). If the character can be transmitted, the character and the text message are transmitted to the destination terminal(S150). |
