PURPOSE: A device for checking a light source of a holographic digital data storage system is provided to comprise a measuring unit for measuring an interference of a laser beam, and to decide that the interference is not regularly maintained if measured optical interference patterns are different from set patterns, thereby preventing an unstable recording/reproducing process. CONSTITUTION: The first beam splitter(104) separates a laser beam incident from a light source(100) into the first beam and the second beam. The second beam splitter(134) separates the second beam passing through the first beam splitter(104). A measuring unit(136) receives the second beam and the first beam, and measures interference patterns between the first and second beams. A controller(138) compares the measured interference patterns with set interference patterns, and judges an interference of the light source(100).
