SYSTEM FOR FILTERING ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION AND WEB PAGE BASED ON URL OF CONTENTS

PURPOSE: A system for filtering electronic communication and a web page based on the URL(Uniform Resource Locator) of contents is provided to categorize the electronic communication into proper or improper by parsing the electronic communication and identifying the URLs in the parsed electronic communication, and permit the third person to access the web page as a function of the categorized URL. CONSTITUTION: The system(100) processes the electronic communication(102) such as an email, an instant message, or chatting room command provided by a server(104) through the network, and is implemented on a client computer(108). As a part of software instructions for operating the client computer, the instruction for receiving the electronic communication is included. A URL parser(110) identifies the URLs in the electronic communication by parsing the received electronic communication. The client computer includes an OLTK(Online Lookup Tool Kit)(112) communicating with a category name service server(114). The OLTK searches the URL from a URL database(116) and returns category rating information of the URLs.
