摘要 PURPOSE: An electro-optical device, and a method of driving the same and an electronic apparatus are provided to control luminance more smoothly and to prevent large current flow during frame change. CONSTITUTION: The electro-optical device comprises a pixel circuit and a luminance control circuit(12). The pixel circuit has a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of data lines, and an electro-optical element installed in correspondence to the intersections of the scan lines and the data lines. The luminance control circuit controls luminance of the electro-optical element of each pixel circuit for peak luminance control based on gray scale data. According to the luminance control circuit, a luminance state judgment circuit part(33) calculates luminance state of one frame length and judges luminance state according to the calculated result, whenever gray scale data of one line or plural lines are inputted. A driver input data conversion part as a luminance control circuit part(34) controls the luminance of the electro-optical element of one line or plural lines based on judgment of the luminance state judgment circuit part, whenever gray scale data of one line or plural lines are inputted.
