PURPOSE: A washing machine and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the laundry from being damaged by stopping water supply if temperature of the supplied water is over a pre-set temperature and to thereby increase customers' reliability about the operation for each course. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine with a water supply valve and a water drain valve comprises a key input unit(1) for choosing a washing course that a user wants; a temperature sensing unit(10) to measure temperature of water during a water supply step when a wool course is chosen; a control unit(20) regulating steps according to whether the temperature of water sensed is over a pre-set temperature; a load driving unit(3) driving the water supply valve and the water drainage valve according to control signals from the control unit; an alarm sound generating unit(30) making alarm sounds in a condition of higher water temperature than the pre-set temperature; and a display unit(4) showing an operation state of washing steps. |
