PURPOSE: A method for managing a record list of a recording medium is provided to easily retrieve a random specific title among plural titles recorded on various recording media, based on recording information, and to selectively reproduce or delete the specific title. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer(14) controls an operation of a record/playback system(13), records a data stream, and records/manages recording information on titles and identification information of a recording medium as record list information in a memory(16). When a record list display operation is conducted, the microcomputer(14) reads the record list information stored in the memory(16), and controls an operation of an OSD generator(15) such that the OSD generator(15) can output an OSD image of the record list on each title through a screen of an external connection apparatus.
