PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing tertiary butanol to improve conversion rate by removing some of tertiary butanol present in reaction mixture. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of converting a mixture comprising water, tertiary butanol and isobutene-containing hydrocarbon in the presence of an acidic catalyst in a reactor battery of 30-120 deg.C; and removing the unconverted hydrocarbon by distillation to prepare tertiary butanol, wherein some of tertiary butanol from the reactor effluent of at least one reactor except final reactor of a reactor battery having at least two reactors is removed before the reactor effluent where tertiary butanol is exhausted passes through the following reactor. Preferably the some of tertiary butanol from the reactor effluent of at least one reactor except final reactor of a reactor battery is removed by distillation or rectification, the product stream where tertiary butanol is exhausted is leaded in the following reactor, and the tertiary butanol-rich product stream is supplied into an co-column for post-treatment of tertiary butanol together with the following reactor effluent.
