METHOD FOR RE-SELECTING A CELL FOR RECEIVING PACKET DATA IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM PROVIDING A MULTIMEDIA BROADCAST/MULTICAST SERVICE, PARTICULARLY FOR TRANSMITTING INFORMATION ON A CELL CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING A PACKET DATA SERVICE TO A USER IN CASE THAT A PACKET DATA-SUPPORTABLE CELL AND A PACKET DATA-NONSUPPORTABLE CELL EXIST TOGETHER

PURPOSE: A method for re-selecting a cell for receiving packet data in a mobile communication system providing an MBMS(Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service) is provided to guarantee the mobility of a user terminal and effectively perform cell selection by transmitting information on adjacent cells and a serving cell to the user terminal. CONSTITUTION: A user terminal in an idle mode receives system information from a cell in which the user terminal itself is currently located(801). The user terminal checks whether the current cell is providing a specific MBMS that the user terminal wants to receive(802). If the current cell is providing the desired MBMS, the user terminal checks whether the system information includes configuration information on an MCCH(MBMS Control Channel)(821). If the system information does not include the MCCH or if the current cell does not support the specific MBMS, the user terminal receives an SIB(System Information Block) 11/12 including information on adjacent cells which support the MBMS or a newly defined MBMS-dedicated SIB including an MBMS enabled cell information field, namely, information on the adjacent cells, and information of the current cell of the user terminal(841). The user terminal re-selects a cell supporting the MBMS based on the information of the received MBMS FA(Frequency Area)(842).
