PURPOSE: A reshapeable tip for a cryoprobe is provided to effectively and accurately treat the target tissue even in case where the tissue has a contoured surface. CONSTITUTION: A device for cryoablating an exposed tissue, comprises a tube type shaft(22), a flexible enclosure(18), a shapeable element(44), and a unit for cooling the enclosure. The tube type shaft is formed with a lumen(40), and has a proximal end(20) and a distal end(16). The flexible enclosure has an outer surface(26) and an inner surface(28), and the inner surface forms a cryochamber(30) having an opening(42). The flexible enclosure is attached to the distal end of the shaft so as to allow for a fluid communication through the opening between the lumen of the shaft and the cryochamber. The shapeable element is attached to the distal end of the shaft, and extended from the distal end to the cryochamber of the enclosure such that a configuration for the enclosure is selectively obtained. The unit for cooling the enclosure cools the enclosure so as to cryoablate tissue in contact with the outer surface of the enclosure.
