PURPOSE: A server of a navigation system for a communication type vehicle, a terminal equipped in a vehicle, and a program thereof are provided to prevent communication instability and communication cost increase. CONSTITUTION: According to the server(4) of a navigation system for a communication type vehicle, a guide path search unit obtains guide path data from the present position to a destination by referring to map data base(421). A map extraction unit extracts map data including a guide road as to a region around the guide path from the map data base. A return path search unit obtains return path indication data(423) from each link on the road network to the destination based on an optimum guide algorithm. The server has a unit which converts the guide path data and the extracted map data into allotment map data(424), and allots the return path indication data accompanied with the allotment map data to terminal equipment mounted on the vehicle.
