PURPOSE: A sub field type plasma display panel(PDP) device and a driving method thereof are provided to assure linearity of a gray level. CONSTITUTION: According to the sub field type plasma display panel(PDP), an event waveform allocation unit(503) allocates the first event waveform to generate an even-numbered light wave and the second even waveform to generate an odd-numbered light wave to a sub field. The first even waveform generation unit(501) outputs a sustain pulse to generate the even-numbered light wave, according to the allocated event waveform. The second event waveform generation unit(502) outputs a sustain pulse to generate the odd-numbered light wave, according to the allocated event waveform.
