PURPOSE: A DVD player setting optimal display environment and its operating method are to enhance a convenience by automatically setting a display environment of a digital television though a user does not input the setting data by himself or herself. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. It is checked whether a DVI(Digital Visual Interface) cable is connected between a DVD player and a digital television(300). In a case that the DVI cable is not connected, a DVI cable connection check message is output(301). In a case that the DVI cable is connected, it is checked whether a data communication between the DVD player and the digital television is possible(302). In a case that a data communication between the DVD player and the digital television is possible, the DVD player requests the digital television to send content preservation release function check information, screen ratio and resolution information, and receives the requested information(303). It is checked whether there exists a content preservation release function(304). In a case that there does not exist a content preservation release function, a noise is output(305). In a case that there exists a content preservation release function, a regeneration signal of the DVD player is converted according to the received screen ratio and resolution information, and converted signal is transmitted to the digital television(306).
