PURPOSE: A method and a device for magnetization of a permanent magnet type motor are provided to accurately match a rotor with a stator even in the structure where the interior of a compressor is not seen. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step of applying a rotor position detection voltage between a first phase and a second phase among three phases of a winding of a stator, and measuring the inductance of the winding; a second step of applying the rotor position detection voltage between the first phase and a third phase, and measuring an inductance; a third step of determining a magnetization reference position by using the position of a rotor with respect to the stator, at the time where the measurement value obtained in the first step and the measurement value obtained in the second step become substantially the same; and a fourth step of rotating the rotor from the magnetization reference position, by a predetermined angle including zero angle, and magnetizing the un-magnetized magnet member of the rotor.
