PURPOSE: A DSL(Digital Subscribers Line) modem apparatus and a communication control method thereof are provided to enlarge a frequency band in up stream communication and to increase accuracy of an echo remover. CONSTITUTION: A DSL modem includes a notch, a transmitter, a receiver, and an echo remover. The notch cuts a signal having a frequency location from a signal transmitted from a counterpart communication device. The transmitter outputs a transmission signal, which passed through the notch, to a line. The receiver(17) receives the transmission signal from the line. The echo remover(43) removes an echo signal from the received signal, which passed through the notch. The echo signal is related to the transmission signal of its own device.
