LASH ADJUSTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a characteristic variation due to a change in temperature of an oil in a lash adjuster installed in valve system of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This lash adjuster comprises a plunger body 12 and a plunger 14 slidably installed in the plunger body 12. A first communication passage 22 and a second communication passage 32 communicating a pressure chamber 16 with a reservoir chamber 20 is formed in a plunger 14. A flow control member 34 formed of a material with a coefficient of thermal expansion larger than that of the plunger 14 and opening and closing a second communication passage 32 by its expansion/retraction due to a change in temperature is installed in the second communication passage 32. A clearance allowing the oil to flow therein is provided between the plunger body 12 and the plunger 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
