PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for preventing surface oxidation of a round roll in a wire rod rolling mill, the apparatus for forming a clean atmosphere having superior coating property on the surface of caliber of the round roll, applying rust resisting paint onto the surface thereof and preventing separation of the rust resisting paint during wire rod rolling operation. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for preventing surface oxidation of a round roll(20) in a wire rod rolling mill(10) comprises a coating agent coated on caliber(22) of round roll of the wire rod rolling mill to prevent rusting of the round roll; a cooling means for cooling a preliminary caliber(21) connected to the caliber that performs a rolling operation of a work(70); and a heating means for oxidation removing of a rust resisting paint coated on the surface of the preliminary caliber exchanged during a caliber exchange operation using heat of a high temperature, wherein the coating agent is coated on the surface of the caliber by a bush or the like in the state that the round roll is rotated after cleaning the surface of the caliber of the round roll that is turning machined in a turning machine for turning machining the round roll, wherein the cooling means comprises a cooling nozzle(40) and an auxiliary cooling nozzle(41), and wherein the heating means comprises a heating burner(50).
