VALVE SYSTEM OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND LIFT ADJUSTING METHOD FOR THE VALVE SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve system capable of simplifying the lift adjusting operation of an engine valve and providing high adjusting accuracy. SOLUTION: This valve system comprises a drive cam fixed to the outer periphery of a drive shaft and a rocker arm 13 having one end linked to the drive cam through a link arm. The rocker arm is swingably supported on the outer peripheral surface of a control cam 18 fixed to the outer periphery of a control shaft 17 and divided into two parts in the axial direction of the control shaft. A first arm 19 and a second arm 20 are formed swingably relative to each other about the same axis as the control cam. A reference pin 25 is temporarily brought into contact with a contact surface 27 and temporarily connected to each other with bolts 21 and 22. Then, shims with thicknesses equal to the checked displaced lift amount are inserted between the reference pin and the contact surface. After that, the bolts are tightened to fixedly connect the both arms to each other, and the shims are extracted to complete the adjusting operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
