PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a series of interfaces and a data structure (namely, demultiplexer API) representing a demultiplexer of multimedia data to improve control of processing of the multimedia data. SOLUTION: This data structure uses some fields each of which contains a command element. In one embodiment, at least seven commands including Initialize, SetPresentationDescriptor, GetPresentationDescriptor, GetPendingPresentationDescriptor, ProcessInput, ProcessOutput, and Flush commands are formed for suitable operation of the demultiplexer.
