PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 2-cycle internal combustion engine capable of minimizing harmful components such as HC discharged into the atmosphere at low cost without requiring a large modification and preventing the mal-function of operation from occurring. SOLUTION: This 2-cycle internal combustion engine 1 comprises C-type scavenging passages 31, 31, 32, and 32 in which a pair of or a plurality of pair of scavenging inlets 31a and 31a and scavenging outlets 31b, 31b, 32b, and 32b of the reverse flow type are opened in a cylinder bore 10a. Scavenging inlet passage parts 40 and 40 for leading an air-fuel mixture K from a crank chamber 18 into the scavenging inlets 31a and 31a are formed between the cylinder bore 10a and a piston 20.
