PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary compressor having a high efficiency by reducing an intake pressure loss. SOLUTION: The rotary compressor includes a cylinder (21) having a blade groove (21a) containing a blade (26) brought into slide contact with a piston (24), and an intake hole (50) opened with an intake chamber (25a) partitioned and formed in a cylinder chamber (25) by the blade (26). The intake hole (50) is extended radially of the cylinder chamber (25). A part of the end (50a) of the opening side of the intake chamber (25a) in the intake hole (50) is opened with the blade groove (21a). Thus, since a refrigerant smoothly flows from the intake hole (50) to the intake chamber (25a) smoothly in a rotating direction of the piston (24) along outer peripheral surfaces of the blade (26) and the piston (24), a flowing resistance due to an abrupt increase of the flow is suppressed to reduce the intake pressure loss.
