Shoots, rooting stock or seeds of plants (3) are held in place on the surface (2) of a water-retentive mineral wool sheeting (1). The plants are attached to the mineral wool sheeting by an organic adhesive containing starch or suitable polymer binder and fillers such as peat, fertilisers and the like. The fibres within the sheet run at right angles to the surface holding the plants. The plants are held in place individually by a foaming spray gun.
