PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for quickly identifying, in ambient light, broiler live eggs from wind eggs and dead eggs in insides of rows of seriate flats (boxes) for eggs. SOLUTION: The automatic apparatus for selectively injecting into eggs of birds comprises a classifying means for classifying eggs suitable for injection or unsuitable for injection, a transmitting means for transmitting signals for generating classifying signals indicating whether the egg is suitable for injection or unsuitable for injection and for transmitting signals functionally connected to the classifying means, a carrying means for carrying a plurality of eggs to pass through the classifying means with a fixed positional relationship, a controlling means for receiving the classifying signals from the means for transmitting the signals, and for selectively generating injection signals based on the classifying signals, and an injection means functionally connected with the controlling means.
