PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element with good color purity which has a fluorescence conversion film with high absorbance and high fluorescence quantum yield. SOLUTION: The light emitting element comprises a light source which emits visible light and the fluorescence conversion film which receives light emitted from the light source and emits fluorescence of longer wavelength. In the light emitting element, the fluorescence conversion film contains phosphor fine particles and a matrix resin for dispersing and holding the phosphor fine particles; and with respect to the peak wavelength of light emitted from the light source, the absorbance of the fluorescence conversion film is not less than 1.6, and the fluorescence quantum yield is not less than 50%.
