PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium holding structure capable of attaining the reduction of an operational sound at a chucking and also surely performing the clamp releasing operation. SOLUTION: This structure is equipped with an elastic abutting member 29 including an shock absorbing part interposed between a turntable 14 and a disk retaining member 25 for absorbing such a force that the turntable 14 and the disk retaining member 25 relatively approaches when the turntable 14 and the disk retaining member 25 come close, and an approach interrupting part for interrupting displacements of the turntable 14 and the disk retaining member 25 in the direction approaching from a predetermined closest distance.
