PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording tape cartridge capable of preventing the large movement of a reel in an axial direction during nonuse. SOLUTION: In the recording tape cartridge 10, the upward movement of a reel is regulated by holding a brake member 52 located in a regulated position in a reel hub in the state of abutting on the bottom plate inner surface of a case 12 during nonuse in the regulated position by abutting an upper end surface 64 on the bottom end surface 82A of a clutch member 74. When a release operation part 104 is pressed by the releasing part of a drive unit to rotate the clutch member 74, the brake member 52 whose holding state is released by sliding the bottom end surface 82A with the upper end surface 64 is moved to a floating permission position by converting the rotational force of the clutch member into an axial-direction moving force by a cam groove 70 and a cam projection 86, and the floating of the reel in a case 12 is permitted.
