PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary compressor suppressing a lowering of productivity, and also reducing load to an electric motor, and besides suppressing power consumption of the electric motor. SOLUTION: In this rotary compressor having an electric element arranged in an upper section in a sealed cylindrical case, a compressive element arranged in a lower section in the case and driven by the electric element, a crankshaft connected to the rotor of the electric element and composing the compressive element, and a roller engaged with the eccentric shaft of the crankshaft, a groove communicated from the upper end surface of the roller toward the lower end surface thereof is arranged in the inner circumferential surface of the roller, thereby, workability can be improved, the lowering of productivity can be suppressed, a contact area around a rotary shaft can be reduced, frictional resistance can be reduced, and load to the electric element can be reduced, and besides power consumption of the electric element can be suppressed.
