A refrigerator, comprising a machine room (14) formed at the rear lower part of a refrigerator body, a refrigerant compressor (12) installed in the machine room (14) at a position displaced to the lateral one side and a cooler (9) receiving refrigerant from the refrigerant compressor (12) to cool the inside of a storage chamber. The cooler (9) is disposed on the inside of the refrigerator through a body insulation wall (3a) above the refrigerant compressor (12) disposed on one side of the machine room (14) and at the laterally opposite side of the refrigerant compressor (12), and characterized in that the control and power substrates (21) of the refrigerator are disposed in the other laterally wide space for the refrigerant compressor (12) in the machine room (14). By changing the positional relation between the cooler (9) and the refrigerant compressor (12) and between the control and power substrates (21) and the structures thereof, the thermal loss of the cooler (9) can be reduced, insulation efficiency can be increased, and the heat radiating efficiencies of the machine room (14) and a condenser (13) can be increased to provide power saving effects.
