PURPOSE: A digital multimedia broadcasting receiver having a function of outputting additional data is provided to decode additional data transmitted together with audio data and video data and output the data together with the video data to a screen, to thereby allow a user to be provided with a variety of information as well as the video data. CONSTITUTION: A digital multimedia broadcasting receiver includes a controller(10), a tuner(20) for tuning a channel under the control of the controller, and a decoder(30) for decoding channel data input through the tuner in response to a control signal input from an external device and decoding data and audio data from the decoded channel data. The receiver further includes a decoding/output processor(40) and a display unit(50). The decoding/output processor decodes character data, video data, left and right audio data and additional data from the data and audio data input from the decoder, outputs the decoded data to a screen and a speaker, and synthesizes the additional data and the video data under the control of the controller to display an image corresponding to the synthesized data on the screen of the display unit.
