PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for sidewalls affording low fuel consumption of a tire and the tire using the same. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for the sidewalls comprises 100 pts. wt. of a rubber component composed of natural rubber and/or isoprene rubber and butadiene rubber and 1-20 pts. wt. of a composite agent composed of starch and a plasticizer. The tire has the sidewalls composed of the rubber composition. Furthermore, the rubber composition preferably contains 30-80 pts. wt. of at least one kind of filler selected from the group consisting of carbon black, silica, alumina and clay.
