PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine the abnormality of the combustion in an internal combustion engine even in an operating state affecting a change in the rotational speed of the engine such as the retard of an ignition timing. SOLUTION: This combustion abnormality determination device of the internal combustion engine comprises a calculation means calculating a combustion abnormality determination value for determining the abnormality of the combustion in the internal combustion engine based on a detected angular velocity, and a combustion abnormality determination means determining whether the abnormality of combustion occurs or not in the internal combustion engine by comparing the calculated combustion abnormality determination value with a threshold determined based on the operating state of the internal combustion engine. The device also comprises an ignition timing control means controlling the ignition timing according to the operating state of the internal combustion engine, an average ignition timing value calculation means calculating the average of the ignition timing calculated by the ignition timing control means for a predetermined period, and a correction means correcting the threshold according to the average ignition timing when the calculated average ignition timing is retarded more than a specified value.
