The box or bucket-shaped container has inclined sides, a peripheral top edge, and fold-down corners (2). In basic position, the corners are located in the edge and thereby permit space-saving stacking of containers (1). The corners are turned around pivots (3), and are locked in basic position by bars (4). When folded into the container interior, the corners form a stable base for a further container to be stacked on top of it without causing damage to the goods it contains.
