MANUFACTURE OF COLORED CHIPS WITH LOW FOAM CONTENT FOR NATURAL MARBLE-TEXTURED ARTIFICIAL MARBLE

PURPOSE: Colored chips using thermal hardened resin as main materials for the production of artificial marble are provided. The resultant chips containing a small amount of foam give the same texture as natural marble. CONSTITUTION: The chips for the production of artificial marble are manufactured by the following steps of: preparing a liquid compound by mixing thermal hardened resin such as unsaturated resin, inorganic filler such as CaCO3 and Al(OH)3, promoter such as cobalt-naphthalene compound, hardener such as methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, pigment such as TiO2 and carbon black, and optionally pearl giving the cubic effect; rotating the liquid compound at a 50-500rpm rate in a drum with heating(40-60deg.C) to harden the compound without foam; crushing hardened compound to chips; selecting chips having an effective size for the production of marble. The manufactured chips have the characteristics of non-cracking and clearness due to the low content of foam.
