<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the output and fuel consumption of an engine while securing an exhausting property. <P>SOLUTION: In the multicylinder turbo compound engine having a turbo charger 11 for turbo charging intake air with exhausting energy, a low pressure turbine 3 is rotated by exhaust gas after passing through a high pressure turbine 15 of the turbo charger 11 to recover the exhausting energy. An exhaust passage 6 between the high pressure turbine 15 and the low pressure turbine 3 and an intake manifold 8 are communicated with each other via a EGR passage 23. Thus, all exhaust gas from the engine 1 passes through the high pressure turbine 15 and so the exhausting energy is efficiently transmitted to the high pressure turbine 15, resulting in improved output of the high pressure turbine 15 and sufficient exhaust gas recirculation with the back pressure of the low pressure turbine 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
