<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that even if a maximum power supplied from a power source is limited in a motor drive system for equalizing a load by a storage battery, a reduction of a power receiving facility capacity or a charge of electricity has been difficult. <P>SOLUTION: The motor drive system includes a breaker 10 having breaking current smaller than a rated capacity of a motor 5, and the storage battery 12 having a charging request converted into a power source current effective value command isr1* in which this command value is limited to smaller current than the breaking current of the breaker 10 by a limiter 163. A DC/DC converter 11 is controlled so that the power source current is becomes this power source current command value. As a result, the maximum power from the power source 1 is limited certainly by a power source current effective value control at a normal time or by the breaker 10 at a fault time. Accordingly, a power receiving facility capacity can be reduced, its space saving and cost reducing are attained.
