<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the estimated accuracy of a fresh air amount and an intake air amount flowing into a combustion chamber. <P>SOLUTION: A predicted EGR value Regr is predicted by a primary delay processing for a target EGR in S1. Based on the Regr, a value Kin equivalent to a volumetric efficiency is calculated in S2. In S3, based on variations Kin/Kin<SB>n-1</SB>of Regr and Kin, a predicted fresh air amount value Qac flowing into the combustion chamber is predicted.
