<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for improving accuracy of an electrophysiological characteristic of a mapped heart. <P>SOLUTION: An electric mapping method of a pulmonary vein of a heart includes a process of introducing a catheter including a curved part and a base part installed in a proximal end part of this curved part and having a distal end part, into the heart. A first position signal having position information and orientation information fewer than six-dimensions, is formed in a position having the curved part. A second position signal having position information and orientation information of six dimensions, is formed in the vicinity of the distal end part of the base part.
