PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a video image outputted on a display easy to be viewed. SOLUTION: A video signal processing circuit 10 comprises a luminance detecting circuit 18 for detecting the luminance of an inputted video signal, and a contrast adjusting circuit 20 for changing the contrast ratio of each color signal according to the detection result by the luminance detecting circuit 18. Consequently, for example, the contrast ratio can be set to a high value according to the luminance if the luminance is low. Accordingly, a clearer video image can be obtained.
