PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female terminal fitting to keep high contact pressure against a counterpart male fitting. SOLUTION: A pair of elastic contact pieces 17 are provided face to face in the upper and lower parts of an insertion part 11 in which a male terminal fitting M can be inserted from the front of a terminal body 10. Both the elastic contact pieces 17 are formed so as to extend along a frontward and backward direction. A mounting member 30 can be mounted on the insertion part 11 from the side. The mounting member 30 has a configuration wherein a pair of supporting pieces 32 are formed so as to extend in the width direction from both end parts of a base part 31. If the mounting member 30 is mounted, both the supporting pieces 32 are disposed so as to hold both the elastic contact pieces 17 between the outsides in the upper and lower parts, and both the supporting pieces 32 are supported by abutting onto the outer surface on the side opposite to the contact surface 17a brought into contact with the metal fitting M in both the elastic contact pieces 17.
