PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation comprising a compound represented by formula 1 and/or salts thereof and having excellent stability. SOLUTION: This external preparation is obtained by formulating the compound represented by formula 1 and/or the salts thereof with one or two or more kinds selected from xanthan gum, hyaluronic acid salts, sclerotium gum, clay minerals or collagen and has excellent preservation stability. The compound represented by formula 1 and/or salts thereof are compounds having extremely effective actions on living bodies. The compounds have an excellent antioxidizing ability, provide prophylaxis against adverse effects of active oxygen in the living bodies, lipid peroxides or free radicals derived therefrom, exhibit physiologically activating functions represented by antiinflammatory functions or promotion of blood circulation, afford prophylaxis/amelioration of pigmentation in human skin or exhibit hair growth/hair restoring effects.
