PIXEL CLOCK GENERATOR, METHOD OF GENERATING PIXEL CLOCK, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct a position shift of a main scanning dot in an image forming apparatus such as a laser printer. SOLUTION: An image writing light source of the image forming apparatus is driven in synchronism with a pixel clock. In a device for generating the pixel clock, a time interval between two or more of horizontal synchronizing signals is detected by a detecting section 3 and a difference between the time interval and a targeting value is obtained by a comparing section 4. A phase shift data generating section 5 includes an LUT storing a phase shift data pattern and reads a phase shift data corresponding to the above difference from the LUT to output it. A pixel clock generating section 6 divides a high frequency clock generated by a high frequency clock generating section 2 and generates the pixel clock of which the phase is controlled according to the phase shift data.
