In the production of metal-containing components by deep-drawing, the component geometry is limited by the method. The invention relates to a method for producing components containing metal and to a roll forming installation (17) for profiling components containing metal, especially vehicle support structures, whereby a metal-containing starting material is supplied to a roll forming installation (17) and is roll formed to create a rolled shape (14), and during the roll forming (4, 6), a reshaping process (5) takes place. Said method and installation ensure that the cross-section of the rolled shape is modified by means of the reshaping process (5). Modification of the cross-section is especially important for structural and safety components and for post structures, longitudinal and transversal profiled elements, such as lateral impact carriers, bumpers, post reinforcing elements, longitudinal and transversal carriers, substructures and roof frames.
