A paper or carton-making assembly has a head box (1) with an inlet zone sub-divided into two or more lines (Z.1-Z.N) that incorporate vortex generators (5.1-5.N) (4). The lines discharge (S) the suspension (3) through the space (6) between the outlet jet (2) slats (8, 10). The slat angle is defined by a leading edge fixture (9) attached to a vortex generator (4) located within the respective line (Z.1-Z.N).
