A device for hardening UV- or heat-cured paint, e.g. on car bodies, in which the coated object is passed over radiation sources while suspended from carriers which can be independently varied in length by means of a motor-driven system. A device for hardening a coating made of radiation-curable material, especially a UV- or heat-cured paint on a car body (12), comprising (a) emitter(s) (48, 48) of electromagnetic radiation and (b) a conveyor system (14, 16) which moves the object (12) close to the emitter(s) (48, 48) and then away again. The conveyor system comprises a suspended carriage (16) which can be moved along a travel way (14) over the emitter(s), with at least two carriers (66) for holding the object (12), suspended below a chassis (50) of the carriage (16), arranged one after the other in the machine direction and independently variable in length by means of a motor-driven system.
