COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM AND METHOD

A system, apparatus and process for the management of communications between a managing entity and external entities in the context of major emergencies. The system includes the ability to store the details of external entities including their preferred medium(s) of communication, and allowing this data to be updated by the external entities. The invention generates electronic communications messages between the management entity and the external entities using the preferred means of communication. Apart from the core messaging platform indicated generally at the invention includes functional modules (13, 14, 16 and 17) which enable specific capabilities to the respective constituent groups, namely media, community/public, volunteers/staff and suppliers. These modules also enable the emergency services agencies which administer the system, specific capabilities in respect to management of information relating to those parties respectively, along with the ability to enter web content matter for publication to the system.
