<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multipurpose cold reserving material composition which can be repeatedly used even when left in a state exposed to the sun and, after use, does not reduce the viscosity to flow out when the container or bag is opened before disposal, and can be reused as a deodorant or an aromatic as well, and a multipurpose cold reserving material using the cold reserving material composition. <P>SOLUTION: The multipurpose cold reserving material composition comprises a water absorbing resin having a gel strength of 3,000-10,000 N/m<SP>2</SP>when allowed to swell 40 times with a physiological sodium chloride solution, water, and a deodorant or an aromatic.
