PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of image quality caused by the accumulation of deteriorated toner. SOLUTION: In the developing device which is equipped with a plurality of developing units having a developer storage part for storing developer, a developer carrier carrying the developer on its surface and making it serve for development, and a developer supply part supplying the developer to the developer carrier in the peripheral direction of a rotatable supporting body, and where the supporting body is rotated to move each developing unit to a predetermined developing position, so that the developing unit performs the development at the developing position; the developing unit is provided with a partitioning wall between the developer storage part and the developer supply part so as to open/close according with the rotation of the supporting body, whereby the developer can be moved between the developer storage part and the developer supply part according with the opening/closing of the partitioning wall.
