PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container for transportation and/or storage of such a style that it evades its defects and is characterized by its strength and stability and therefore its reliability in its free fall attended with the collision on its lid side. SOLUTION: The canister for transportation and/or storage has at least one accommodating space 1 for radioactive elements 2, a container bottom 3, a canister outer casing 4 and a container lid 5 whose boundary is in contact with the accommodating space 1 for these radioactive elements 2. On this occasion, at least one spring element 6 is placed at the container bottom 3 inside the container and put under a preload by their own weight of the radioactive elements 2 in the condition of the vertical installation of the container, which is so constituted that a preload stroke (v) of the spring element 6 formed in this way is larger than an interval (f) between the container lid 5 and the radioactive elements 2 in the condition of the vertical installation of the container.
